One Saturday, Abi and Anna decided to go to brunch. Martin, Anna’s roommate at the time, decided he was going to tag along as well and bring a friend. Martin brought Asheton to brunch, and he sat next to Abi. After a rant on dating apps and how he was going to meet someone “organically”, Asheton deleted his Bumble account in front of Abi. While you would assume he did that because she was the one... not quite! From that brunch, Abi and Asheton began a two-year journey of trying to convince each other (and those around them) that they weren’t meant to be. Finally, after putting off the obvious, they came to their senses and decided to give it a go!

Abi and Asheton dated for a year and a half before Asheton proposed to Abi in the place that means the most to them, Fripp Island. Abi loves a good surprise, but she usually figures them out before they can happen, so Asheton was tasked with the challenge of throwing Abi off and keeping the proposal a secret. After a VERY late arrival to Fripp on Thursday night, Asheton got Abi to agree to a Friday morning golf-cart coffee ride. Abi knew they needed coffee creamer, so she threw a hat on with her pajamas and off they went! They hurried back to the house to beat the rain and Asheton led Abi to the dock. While Abi was distracted with some birdwatching, Asheton reached into his pocket for the ring. He got down on one knee, she said yes, and one nosebleed later, the rest is history!
